About me — a husband, father of two daughters, functional fitness coach, and lifelong competitor. My journey into fitness and coaching has been shaped by 10 years of strength and conditioning, 25 years of motorcycle racing, and 5 years of mountain bike racing. Along the way, I discovered something that changed my life: structured training works...not just for performance, but for health and longevity.
With motocross racing injuries are usually standard protocol. The desire to win paired with high speeds and rugged obstacles makes injuries part of the sport. With these injuries comes a temporary loss of normal life functions. Getting up and down off the floor, taking a shower, cooking, and even going to the bathroom becomes extremely challenging and sometimes required help. The truth is, we are all going to lose this same functional independence eventually due to normal aging, however, by training functional movements, we can delay this loss of function until much later in life than if we did not. This personal experience with injuries and loss of day to day function has changed my outlook and created a huge desire to help others keep their functional independence as long as possible. Interestingly enough, the same training that keeps us out of the nursing home, also keeps us performing at our best in life and sport!
While my competitive journey started much earlier, my actual physical training started in 2009. This is when I met one of my motorcycle racing heroes and asked him what I needed to do to improve on track. His answer was simple: train off the bike. That conversation planted a seed. I experimented with programs like P90X, but my effort was inconsistent and the results were minimal. After several frustrating seasons of mediocre results, I was still looking for more.
In 2014, a friend suggested mountain biking as the ultimate conditioning tool for motocross. I went all in, riding multiple times per week, often late at night after long days working road construction. That same year, I earned my first overall win, then followed it up with two more...three in a row. My endurance and cardio had dramatically improved, but strength, power, and explosiveness were missing.
At the end of 2015 I came up just a few points shy of another overall championship and had to settle for the #2 plate for the second year in a row. Frustrated and hungry for growth, I walked into my first CrossFit gym. It was immediately obvious: my fitness was lopsided. I had endurance and stamina, but very little strength, power, and flexibility. That realization was a turning point.
Over the next two seasons, I combined cycling with CrossFit-style training. The results were awesome — 3 overall championships and the #1 plates I just missed out on in years prior.
After the 2017 season, I chose not to re-sign with the motorcycle race team and shifted my focus fully to enduro and downhill mountain bike racing. Again, high-level competition exposed weaknesses in my training. Strength and power still needed work. While I had the bike skills and endurance to be competetive, any stage that required an all out pedalling spring, meant i would be at the back of the pack. Pursuing improvements in these areas brought breakout 2018–2019 season. Multiple pro podiums, and steady improvement, but a major wrist injury forced another life reset.
From that point on, racing took the back seat while faith, family, fitness, and my construction career took priority. Instead of training purely for racing performance, I began training for longevity and overall strength. Over time, I went from 145 pounds to 170 pounds while maintaining similar body fat percentage. My body responded to better nutrition and a more well rounded approach to training.
This part of my story is laughably predictable, in 2025 I injured my anke racing... this seems to be a pattern of mine. This was a big challenge and set back, but my family and I decided to use it as a chance to go all in on becoming a full time trainer. My previous career was 12 years in heavy equipment construction from 2013 to 2025, starting as a paving laborer and working my way up to an onsite leadership position, helping manage major highway projects, including improvements to Highways 80, 5, 99, 70, and 20. The work was demanding and rewarding, but during my final four years, I felt a growing pull toward coaching health and fitness full time. I used the downtime while my ankle healed to invest in education, earn certifications, and turn years of trial, error, and proven training principles into something I could use to help others.
Today, I coach clients out of my fully equipped garage gym and at two local gyms. I believe there is great beauty in the journey of striving for high quality movement patterns and improving physical capacity. My desired outcome for my clients training is being able to say yes to any task, sport, or activity with no specific preparation. So, performance still matters to me, but my priorities have evolved. As a husband, father, and trainer, I care deeply about helping build others up physically, mentally, and spiritually.
I’m driven to keep learning, keep improving, and help people from all backgrounds build resilient bodies, strong minds, and sustainable fitness. My mission isn’t just to help others win races, it’s to help them win in life for the long haul.
Some of my competitive highlights include 3 District 36 overall motorcycle championships, an NGPC overall race win, a California Enduro mountain bike overall stage win, 2 Northstar downhill pro podiums, and multiple top 3 stage finishes at the legendary TDS Enduro. But the story isn’t just about the wins and losses — it’s about the process and life lessons leaned along the way.
